This is a ca. 1931 image, taken by amateur Philadelphia photographer Claude Alexander, showing several men in front of an automobile service station.  The signage advertises Defiance Spark Plugs and Atlantic White Flash gasoline (introduced in 1931).  The phrase "Gasoline Alley" appears on the sign, but it doesn't help to identify the location of the station.  For a front view of this business, see item #pdcal00010.
