A Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist with an illustrious 30-year career, Wil Haygood is most famous for his 2008 Washington Post article, “A Butler Well Served By This Election,” a story about the White House steward who bore witness to some of 20th century America’s most notable events and figures. He later adapted the article into a book that has been translated into a dozen languages. The article was also adapted into the critically acclaimed film The Butler, starring Forest Whitaker. Haygood is also the author of popular biographies of Adam Clayton Powell Jr., Sammy Davis Jr., and Sugar Ray Robinson. His new book offers a revealing portrait of the 40-year career of one of the most transformative legal figures in the United States.
