“Britain’s leading contemporary playwright” (Sunday Times), Sir David Hare has won two Laurence Olivier Awards, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, and the 2015 Tony for Best Revival for Skylight. His more than 30 celebrated plays, including Amy’s View, The Blue Room, Racing Demon, and Plenty, have run on Broadway, in the West End, and at the National Theatre. Two of his many scripts, The Hours and The Reader, were nominated for Oscar and Golden Globe Awards. In his debut memoir, Hare traces the postwar English events and people that led to his breakthrough success as a playwright.
