One of the major authors of Latin America, Mario Vargas Llosa is also one of the most famous names in 20th century literature. Born in Peru, most of his novels are drawn from his personal experiences in contemporary Latin America, but written during his self-imposed exile in Europe.
In 1999 he spoke at the Free Library of Philadelphia Author Events series.
