Fresh from performances with Grammy-Award® winning jazz vocalist Cassandra Wilson in New York City, the Free Library of Philadelphia is proud to present DANIEL BERNARD ROUMAIN (DBR) in the Philadelphia premiere of his I, COMPOSER solo show. This landmark work fuses classical acoustic/electronic violin performance, spoken word, song, electronica, and hip-hop beats. The performance features students from the CAPA Jazz Band. Described as "a combination of Mozart, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Prince" composer/performer Daniel Bernard Roumain, a.k.a. DBR, is an innovative musical artist living, composing, performing, and teaching in Harlem. Blending classical styles and hip-hop idioms, his music uses drum loops, a professional string quartet, electric guitars, and sampled ambient sounds of Harlem itself.
