Questlove is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, drummer, DJ, producer and best-selling author. He is a member of the influential hip-hop group The Roots, who serve as the house band for The Tonight Show, where he is also the Musical Director. Questlove is a 6-time Grammy Award winner and has worked with everyone from D'Angelo to Jay-Z. He was named one of “The 100 Most Influential People of 2022” by Time. In 2023, he launched his own book imprint, AUWA Books. Next up, he will make his feature film directing debut with a live-action hybrid reimagining of The Aristocats for Walt Disney Studios.

S. A. Cosby is an Anthony Award-winning writer from Southeastern Virginia. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller Razorblade Tears and Blacktop Wasteland, which won the the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, was a New York Times Notable Book, and was named a best book of the year by NPR, The Guardian, and Library Journal, among others. His next adult novel, All the Sinners Bleed, will be published in June.

Co-authored by award-winning writer S. A. Cosby and aimed at readers ages 8-12, this gripping and exhilarating series opener, set in Questlove’s hometown of Philadelphia, The Rhythm of Time follows Kasia and Rahim, two slightly nerdy Black teens, as they travel back through time, inadvertently rewriting the future. Rich with pop-culture references but rooted in its portrait of its two unlikely heroes, The Rhythm of Time is a fast-paced story of how the best of intentions can unravel into the most dire of circumstances—and how those problems can only be solved through the power of family and friendship.

Maori Karmael Holmes is a curator, filmmaker, and writer. She founded BlackStar in 2012 and serves as its Chief Executive & Artistic Officer. Maori was recently announced as an inaugural Philadelphia’s Cultural Treasure Fellow and in 2022 was named as one of the Kennedy Center’s #Next50 List. She hosts the podcast Many Lumens and serves as Mediamaker-in-Residence at the Annenberg School for Communication at University of Pennsylvania.

Masks are welcome but are not required.
Each ticket includes a book which you will collect as you enter the auditorium.
