Educator Cards

A Free Library Educator Card is a supercharged way to borrow books for your class, or to access streaming media and our research databases. You can apply for an educator card in person by visiting your local neighborhood library—you can receive the educator card that same day. If you have any questions or concerns about the process, contact schools@freelibrary.org to connect with our School Partnerships staff.

A few things to remember when applying:

  • In order to receive an educator card, you must present a letter on official school stationary stating that your school will be responsible for materials borrowed on your educator card. Contact schools@freelibrary.org for a sample template letter you can use for this!
  • You may indicate up to two other colleagues who may borrow materials using the card, or you may apply for your own individual educator card.
  • You will need to present identification verifying your school affiliation, like your employee ID or the top corner of a paystub.
