As Philadelphia students gear up to return to school at the end of the month, we hope you’ll join the Blanche A. Nixon/Cobbs Creek Library on Friday, August 27 from 12:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. for a Community Fair.
The Community Fair will include giveaways of books, backpacks, and school supplies while they last, as well as kits for job seekers, Medicare information, and custom vaccine card holders. To make donations to the fair, please visit the Amazon Wishlist. Refreshments will also be served.
Community organizations including the Philadelphia Anti-Drug/Anti-Violence Network, the University of Pennsylvania, the Cobbs Creek Library's Friends group, and the Southwest CDC will be on hand offering resources and information.
"We felt like since the library has been closed, a lot of people didn’t know it when we opened, and lots of people nearby also don’t know that we’re a library. I wanted us to get out in the community and let everyone know we’re here and we’re a resource. We wanted to encourage kids as they’re getting ready to go back to school, and all of our staff have come together to help."
- Sierra Scott, Digital Resource Specialist and event organizer
