Apple released iOS 7 yesterday and many of Apple users may have upgraded their device(s) or will be upgrading in the near future. Overdrive reported today that there is glitch with thier Overdrive Media Console app in the new operating system.
When an existing OverDrive Media Console (OMC) user upgrades to iOS 7, the app will fail when trying to open a DRM-protected eBook. New or first-time users of OMC are unaffected by this issue, but those of you who already have the app installed will likely be affected.
Overdrive is working to resolve the issue but in the meantime, here are their immediate remedies:
- Re-authenticate the app with an existing or new Adobe ID. Refer to the iOS section of this help article for assistance.
- Uninstall and re-install OMC which will also require the you to re-authorize with Adobe. IMPORTANT NOTE: A re-install will clear your bookshelf, history, and app settings.
Audiobook users won't notice that anything is different unless they attempt to download parts of audiobooks they already downloaded to OMC before upgrading to iOS 7. In that case, you will receive an error message informing you to download the title again.
Check here and on Overdrive's blog for the latest updates.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
