• February 2014 marks the centennial birth of Beat Generation and postmodernist literary legend William S. Burroughs. Iggy Pop had some reflections on Burroughs' life and written works during a recent BBC Radio interview.
   
• HBO will be going traveling to Silicon Valley for a tech and maker-influenced dramedy, and from the mind of Mike Judge no less!
   
• For us Apple iOS users, there was some bad news about recent security issues that revealed major vulnerabilities where hackers could intercept email and other secure communications sent from iPhones and iPads. So, update your devices stats!

• Free Library colleagues, Maker Jawn, have created a maker programming webinar series using Google+ Hangouts On Air called Design It * Make It * Share It. Very Cool!

• The recent publication of Mastering Digital Librarianship should be added to all of our reading lists. The book examines the changing roles of librarians in today's digital environment and focuses on communication, teaching and learning, and service innovation.

• As is the norm for social media, things are constantly in flux and ever changing. And with that, Twitter has redesigned their service, which seems to be borrowing more than a little from Facebook and Pinterest.

• In her new book, It's Complicated: The Social Lives of Networked Teens, Danah Boyd researches and examines the intersection between teens and tech. Her recent interview in USA Today is an informative read.

• J.K. Rowling plans to dip her pen (name) back into the ink well for a continuing series starring her newest creation, Afghanistan war veteran turned private investigator Cormoran Strike.

• Sadly, comedic filmmaker, director, writer, and actor Harold Ramis has passed away at 69. Patton Oswalt tweeted it best: "No Harold Ramis, no comedy as we know it today. #RIPHaroldRamis". For a great overview of Ramis' body of work, check out A.V. Club's primer.
