This fall promises to be a busy and exciting time at the Culinary Literacy Center. We have some wonderful programs lined up highlighting treasured books and talented cooks.
Cookbook authors Leanne Brown and Marisa McClellan will be joining us on October 27 and November 23, respectively. Leanne will be speaking about her book, Good & Cheap, that effectively broke Kickstarter and is bringing reasonably priced, delicious-tasting meals to the masses. Marisa McClellan is a local author, blogger, and an expert voice on preserving. Marisa will be joined by Ben Wenk, a seventh generation Pennsylvania farmer, as she makes cranberry and apple preserves right in time for the holidays.
On November 10, we are celebrating the local authors featured in the locally published Corn Belt Almanac with local beer from Yards Brewing Company and recipes from the book.
Yards Brewing Company is also sponsoring our Whole Hog Butchering class on November 16. Local butchers Bryan Mayer and Nick Macri will be breaking down a hog and cooking different cuts for tasting.
To celebrate Alice's 150th birthday, we will be hosting a Wonderland-worthy tea party on November 19 with the Rosenbach. Alexis Siemons, Philadelphia tea consultant and expert, will be pouring while we enjoy a delicious array of tarts. White Rabbits and Cheshire Cats not included in this celebration.
We hope to see you here! For information about attending go to freelibrarycook.eventbrite.com.
