Today is Senior Citizens Day, the perfect time to reflect on the Free Library’s myriad offerings for our city’s older residents!
As noted when we celebrated Older Americans Month back in May, we believe that more than ever, seniors are living vibrantly, getting out dancing, embracing wellness, embarking on new hobbies and careers, becoming tech-savvy, taking charge of their finances, mentoring young people, and so much more! After all, we’re all going to grow old one day, so why not take pride in the process? Below are just a few examples of the ways the Free Library celebrates aging – for more suggestions and year-round program offerings, check out our Senior Center!
The Free Library’s e-Gadget Helpdesk, along with computer classes covering topics like email, social media, internet search, and online safety, are perfect for those looking to keep up with the ever-growing technology landscape!
Ground your mind and body with meditation and yoga classes at various library locations.
Learn about healthy eating at our nutrition workshops!
It’s never too late to find a career that brings you joy and fulfillment! The Free Library offers a variety of job-search and resume-building classes.
Crocheting, knitting, and crafting offer opportunities to learn something new, work on an old skill, or just plain relax!
Feeling the itch to get out and about and explore? At the Parkway Central Library on Vine Street, departments ranging from Newspapers & Microfilm to Music, Maps, and Government Publications can unlock a treasure trove of information!
And don’t forget about our online databases! From learning a new language to exploring your family history, we can help – all you need is a library card! And if you’re unable to get to a library location, our Homebound Services program delivers library materials for free!
Happy Senior Citizens Day!
