SAT and College Prep Workshops

Start your journey to college at the Free Library!

This school year, the Field Teen Center will be hosting a series of virtual SAT and College Prep workshops for teens.


College Financial Aid Workshop
Saturday, October 16 | 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
The 2021–22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) became available to high school seniors on October 1, 2021. In this virtual workshop, students will learn about Financial Aid 101, including the types of aid that are available and how to access and successfully complete the FAFSA. Information about the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) application process will also be provided.

COVID-19 and Higher Education Updates: ACT & SAT, College Openings, Vaccine Mandates
Saturday, November 6 | 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
We will explore changes in higher education practices in response to COVID-19. This includes standardized testing, virtual learning versus in-person classroom environments, and new policies regarding vaccine mandates. This question and answer session will help clarify current changes, answer pending inquiries, as well as provide tips to best prepare. Watch live or later on YouTube. You can also ask questions live in the comments, and get answers from our college prep expert!


College Fit & Planning Workshop
Saturday, December 4 | 12:00 p.m - 1:30 p.m.
Transitioning high school youth will learn the important factors to consider when selecting the college that fits best for their post-secondary needs. These factors include college type, location, campus setting, cost, majors available, and learning environment. Students will also have the opportunity to complete an assessment to identify their best fit factors, as well as identify goal planning for 9th-12th grade.

Additional workshops will continue in 2022.

You can also get SAT Prep through Homework Help Online, a free resource that you can access through our Digital Learning portal with your library card. Live tutoring is available every day from 10:00 a.m. - 12 midnight (or from 2:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m., in Spanish) This resource is available for students in grades K-12, college, and adults!

And of course, you can always check out SAT Prep books from our catalog. Place a hold on the newest titles, study hard, and ace the big test!
