Join us for an afternoon of delicious and nutritious food, reading, movement, cooking, and activities on Saturday, November 13 at the Free Library Kids' Wellness Day! This free, multigenerational, outdoor event is a collaboration between the Parkway Central Library's Children's Department, Culinary Literacy Center's Nourishing Literacy team, and author Stacey Woodson, MS, RD, LDN.
Woodson will read from her book Delicious and Nutritious: The Princess of Picky Eating Tries New Foods and lead us in a fun and educational activity! Stay for a cooking demonstration from Nourishing Literacy and try a taste of their culinary creations! They will be cooking with healthy ingredients from the story, including avocados. Children's Librarian Ms. Becky will lead kids’ movement and mindfulness segments. Attendees will have an opportunity to purchase a copy of Woodson's book and get it signed by the author!
Delicious and Nutritious talks about foods from far across the globe that have to be delicious and nutritious, otherwise the Princess of Picky Eating wouldn't even try them! This nourishing story is for anyone looking to instill the importance of healthy eating into the children in their life, as well as a multicultural book that is also perfect for anyone looking to add diverse stories to their classroom, office lobby, or local and home libraries.
This event will take place in Shakespeare Park, located directly across the street from Parkway Central Library at 1901 Vine Street. All are welcome, especially children ages 11 and under, their caregivers, parents, families, and educators! We hope to see you there!
In case of rain or other inclement weather, this event will be postponed to the following Saturday, November 20, 3:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
