With fall approaching, what better time than now to join the Adult Literacy Book Club, presented by the Free Library's Languages and Learning Center!
Improve your reading skills while reading and discussing interesting books as we turn the page on a new season in Philadelphia. Don't always have a lot of time to read? No problem. The club only covers a few chapters at each meeting, so you will have plenty of time to finish the book!
Our latest book selection is Bicycles: Love Poems by Nikki Giovanni.
Before she wrote this book, poet Nikki Giovanni had experienced a number of losses in her life. Just when her world was spinning out of control, she found the antidote, love. Her poems are about all aspects of love, physical touch, emotional pull and the hungry heart.
This book can be borrowed from the Free Library. Go to our catalog to find an available copy! The Adult Literacy Book Club will meet every other Wednesday from 5:00–6:00 p.m., starting on September 14.
Here are a few things past and current members say they like about the book club:
"It's challenging, but I like it. It keeps me focused."
"It helps me read better..."
"Meeting of the minds about the book."
