Celebrate the Dog Days of Summer with the Free Library of Philadelphia! On Saturday, July 17 from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., bring your family, your friends, and your dog for a fun event in Shakespeare park! Meet author/illustrator Sarah Jacoby, mingle with other dogs, dog people, and local organizations & businesses that work with dogs.
Childrens & Teen Librarians will be there, giving away Summer of Wonder prizes and free books!
Local author/illustrator Sarah Jacoby will read her book Can I Sit With You?, and attendees will have an opportunity to purchase a copy of the book and get it signed! Can I Sit With You? is the story of a girl and a dog who discover how life transforms and expands with someone by your side. With lyrical text and stunning illustrations, this empathy read illustrates the power of friendship in the face of change. Can I Sit with You? takes readers along one loyal dog's journey with the girl he's meant to be with, no matter how far she roams. This timeless picture book illustrates the
importance of companionship and loyalty, and how engaging with others makes the world embrace you in return.
About the author: Sarah Jacoby is the award-winning author and illustrator of such picture books as:

Sarah’s work is evocative and delightfully unexpected, playful and effortlessly profound. Her work is characterized by a deeply felt empathy, a keenly observant eye, and an intuitive ability to capture and convey what it means to think, feel, and be in this world as a human. She lives and works in a little row home in Philadelphia. Yes, she has a dog that looks like a muppet; his name is Walt.
Shakespeare Park is located directly across the street from the Parkway Central Library at 1901 Vine Street. In case of rain, this event will be postponed to the following week. Rain date: July 24.
