Up Above: Thinking About the Skies
Children's Literature Research Collection at Parkway Central Library
The dream of flying through the skies with a bird’s perspective has captivated people for centuries. Mythological tales and folklore encouraged humankind to consider the science of flight. Hot air balloons create a unique spectacle and sport. Crisscrossing the skies, airplanes allow for mail and passengers to travel long distances efficiently. The skies have opened new avenues for communication and travel, and still inspire curiosity and wonder. Up Above: Thinking About the Skies is a collaboration of the Children’s Literature Research Collection, the Map Collection, and the Print and Picture Collection.
The exhibition is located in the Second Floor West Gallery of Parkway Central Library.
