Spooky Foods: Classic Horror and Fresh Offal with Dave Feola of Ember & Ash
Culinary Literacy Center at Parkway Central Library
Spooky Foods: Classic Horror and Fresh Offal is an exploration of blood, guts, and gore, on the page and on the plate.
For this special Halloween program, Dave Feola, Executive Chef of the "snout-to-root" restaurant Ember & Ash, will share his thoughts on the shadowy side of our favorite edible animals, and prepare a delectable menu featuring organ meat, blood, and other surprisingly delicious ingredients. Guests will taste both savory and sweet dishes that showcase the versatility of these uncommon elements.
We will also revisit beloved tales of terror from the library's collection, like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart and talk about the meaning of body parts in classic works of horror literature. Sorry, this program is not suitable for small children or vegetarians.
Tickets are $25. Free tickets are available for SNAP eligible families and for anyone who cannot afford the fee right now but would still like to participate. Please email kitchen@freelibrary.org for more information.
