Join the Free Library of Philadelphia's Education, Philosophy, and Religion Department for a screening of María Luisa Bemberg's I, the Worst of All (Spanish: Yo, la peor de todas). Based on the book by Octavio Paz and set in 17th-century colonial Mexico, the film portrays the life of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, the philosopher, poet, and nun who challenged the Spanish church.

This film is part of our Summer Film Series. Come along with us this summer as we alternate between two film programs: In Black Luminaries we are showing films about writers and scholars of color who were influenced by philosophy, psychology, and religion and had a significant impact on, while not always being regarded as primary contributors to, these fields. In Bad Habits we will show a triptych of international films from multiple decades that examine the lives and passions of nuns as they wrestle with their faith, femininity, and identities.
