Monday Poets with Simon West and Myronn Hardy
Literature Department at Parkway Central Library
Cost: FREE
Join us as we kick off one the longest continously running programs at FLP! Monday Poets 29th season and this year we are back onsite and in the Literature Department on the 2nd floor. We are super excited about this since you will have time to peruse our shelves and even check out books since the building is open until 8pm. Mark your calendars for the third Monday of each Month.
Simon West is the author of four previous collections of poetry, including Carol and Ahoy and The Ladder, which was shortlisted for the Australian Prime Minister’s Literary Awards. He is also the author of Dear Muses? Essays in Poetry and the editor and translator of The Selected Poetry of Guido Cavalcanti. He lives in Melbourne, Australia and yes let's give a warm welcome to our friend from down under!
Myronn Hardy is the author of five previous books of poems, including Radioactive Starlings (Princeton). His poems have appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Poetry, the New Republic, and the Baffler, among other publications, and have won many prizes, including the PEN Oakland-Josephine Miles Award. He teaches at Bates College in Lewiston Maine.
This event as with all the Monday Poets events is free and open to the public and will take place in the Literature Department on the 2nd floor. If the poet wishes to bring their books for sale they will. Please come out and enjoy the beauty of hearing out loud poetry written and read by some of our finest poets today.
If you have any questions please call or email us. We look forward to seeing you onsite!
