Mr. Los Angeles: "Raymond Chandler & His World"
Virtual
Raymond Chandler was an unlikely candidate to emerge as a master of detective fiction. At the age of 44, Chandler had not written anything of note. A failed oil company executive with an unquenchable thirst and a fondness for cats, Chandler had never been a detective or an investigator of any kind. However, once the irascible Chandler applied himself, he produced eight classic mystery novels and created the fictional detective, Philip Marlowe. While Marlowe could throw a punch with the best of them, his conscience was always on duty. Please join us via Zoom on Friday, June 14th to learn more about this remarkable man. Our guest expert will be Dr. Jennifer Matisoff, an expert on modern detective fiction, who teaches at Arcadia University.
