Workshop: The Beauty of Korean Traditional Dance

In this workshop, acclaimed dancer Kate Kim will share the basic cultural and historical background of Korean traditional dance, while also leading participants to learn the basic dance moves! No experience is needed.
Kate Kim is a professional Korean traditional dancer. She is recognized by the Korean Government's Ministry of Culture as a "Successor" (Chonsuja) of the Seungmu dance, an Intangible Cultural heritage. She graduated from Sangmyung Women’s University in Korea. She is the recipient of a Folk and Traditional Arts Grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the World Dance Competition Leader’s Award. Kate participated in the Research Program on Cognitive Ability in Dementia in Elderly at Temple University School of Medicine. As the owner/director of the K-Motion Troupe, she serves as dance director of the Korean School of Southern New Jersey, Philadelphia First Generation Korean Academy, and The Korean Cultural Foundation (KCul). She contributes to disseminating and educating Korean culture through her works and performances
