Mask On, Mask Off: Papier-Mâché Workshop - NEW SESSION ADDED
Education Philosophy and Religion Department at Parkway Central Library
Make your own mask! Participants will design, craft, and paint their own papier-mâché masks, just in time for Halloween. We will explore creative process, artistic identity, and papier-mâché techniques.
The creativity workshops will take place in the Education, Philosophy, and Religion Department, Room 205 at Parkway Central Library. Each workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. and wrap up by 7:30 p.m. All materials will be provided, and we encourage participants to work with recycled objects.
Here is a recommended 3-part approach, though participants can adjust as needed. We have added an additional week to give participants more time to work on their projects.
Thursday, October 3: research, design, construction
Thursday, October 10: construction, papier-mâché
Thursday, October 17: painting, decoration (new participants: construction, papier-mâché)
Thursday, October 24: painting, decoration, wrap up
We recommend attending multiple sessions to complete your project. Drying time is necessary between the papier-mâché and painting sessions. Upon completing the workshop, participants are invited to display their creations at the library through the end of October.
