Panel Discussion: Refugees in America
Philadelphia City Institute
Please join us for a discussion of historical and current day perspectives on the refugee experience in America. The panel will be moderated by Cathryn Miller-Wilson, Esquire, Executive Director of HIAS Pennsylvania. Featured speakers are: Agozino Emmanuel, who was a journalist in his home country of Nigeria; and Youssef Abbara, who was an engineer in his home country of Syria.
Cathryn Miller-Wilson is the Executive Director of HIAS Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1993 and has spent her career doing social justice work: representing parents accused of abuse and neglect at Community Legal Services, Inc., representing persons with HIV/AIDS at the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania and teaching and supervising law students who represented low income persons in a variety of civil matters at both Drexel University School of Law and Villanova University School of Law.
This program is co-sponsored by Friends in the City (FitC) and the Philadelphia City Institute Library. It will be held in the meeting room on the library’s lower level and we regret there is no elevator.
