DIY Recording Meetup: Live Recording Pt II.
Music Department at Parkway Central Library
It's time to get back in the studio! Vadim K re-ups an exciting new round of DIY Recording - a program seeking to democratize the recording process by educating, equipping and empowering the DIY recording community. This new session is in two parts. From the Event Page:
Note: you do not need ANY mixing experience to participate in this session. We will go through the basics.
In this SECOND of two sessions we will be mixing and mastering the song we recorded during the previous week. We will work together to:
- Set up our session for mixing efficiently
- Discuss signal routing and best practices for certain types of processing and effects
- Performing some editing to maximize the quality of our mix
- Apply compression, eq and effects to let all of our recorded parts sit well in the mix
- Apply some "visual" mixing tricks to create a mix that is full and powerful
- Apply some "secret sauce" to make our mix more professional
- Perform a quick diy Master using stock plug-ins to make our song loud and evenly balanced.
ATTENTION: We are still looking for musicians that want a song recorded as part of these sessions. You must have a song that has music and lyrics. Just an acoustic guitar and vocals is fine! The team will help add other instruments. If you or someone you know would like to have a song recorded and mixed for FREE, please reach out to Vadim. If all else fails, we can record a cover but it would be way more fun to do an original.
