Song-Poems: Whomst
Literature Department at Parkway Central Library
Whomst, aka Kari Dramé is a non binary artist, singer/songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from the Philadelphia area. Their practice revolves around reconstructing spaces of black queerness and femmeness, as well as transness through the lens of music. The different ways that they create be it visual-performance art or music inform one another and are all inherently tied to their experiences and the expression of identity. They are inspired by questions of spaces and spectrums that exist within identity, how they intersect and overlap. Exploring how they are influenced and affected by the space/ how they take up or contribute to these spaces creates awareness that allows them to use art to navigate the themselves and the world around.
