This January 11, 1962, image shows police trying to control a crowd of striking union workers at the Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company's Philadelphia division (Roosevelt Boulevard & Haldeman Avenue). This photograph was taken near the end of a 5-month strike by the International Association of Machinists against the Yale & Towne Maufacturing Company, over a dispute about the company wanting to make extensive changes to exisiting contracts. The strike was finally settled on January 29th.
