This July 1951 image shows an aerial view of North Philadelphia West, including the Brewerytown (to the left), Fairmount (bottom center), and Cecil B. Moore neighborhoods. Prominent structues visible include St. Joseph's Preparatory School (center right), Girard College (bottom center), and behind Girard College is the Promise Academy at Roberts Vaux High School (originally opened in the late 1930s; since 2017, reopened as Vaux Big Picture Philadelphia High School). Ridge Avenue runs diagonally across the center of the photograph.
