Notes: "This is the original theater in Arch Street which opened in 1828. It had a succession of managers, among whom were the famous Irish comedian John Drew and, later, his widow, Mrs. Louisa Drew (they were the parents of the more famous actor John Drew and the maternal grandparents of Ethel, Lionel and John Barrymore). The theater seen in this photo was badly damaged by fire in 1863 and subsequently remodelled extensively."--OPEP, p. 106.
