Notes: This page begins the Hexameron of St. Ambrose of Milan (ca. 340-397), bishop of Milan and one of the Doctors of the Church. The Hexameron is a commentary on the Biblical account of the six days of Creation. The rubric states that this copy was destined for the Carthusian monastery of Montello in Treviso, Italy. It was written in 1468 by a member of the community, a monk named Guglielmo de Cruces who at the end of the book proudly identified himself and dated his work.
