Devonshire Terrace I Sixteenth July 1842
My Dear Marryat.
Most unquestionably and undoubtedly I expect you at 6 to day-to dinner. I should have sent you a reminder, but when the Invitation has been given at dinner time, I have a delicacy in doing so, lest it should seem to intimate a suspicion that the Invited One was drunk!
Faithfully Yours always
Charles Dickens
I think I can give you some Hock today which will do your Leg good.
