1 Devonshire Terrace I Twenty First Jany. 1843
My Dear Marryat.
I have always been on friendly terms with Bulwer, but I am by no means pleased with his having taken no notice of my International Copyright letter. I held my Gauntlet somwhat toughly to Jonathan's nose, and should have deserved better of the Baronet though I had been a stranger.
Therefore I will not sign his paper, the rather as it seems to me to be an unnecessary kind of flourish, importing that we mean to do, what we can do very well, without blast of trumpet.
Mrs. Dickens and her sister beg to be well remembered to you. We are going to Bath today, but shall be home again in the middle of the week.
Always My Dear Marryat I Faithfully Yours
