Title: De quattuor virtutibus caritatis (On the four virtues of charity)
Script: Caroline minuscule
Language: Latin
Folio Number: f. 2r
Source: Rare Book Department
Notes: Initial D
Notes: The rubric on this folio, written in Latin at the top of the page in capital letters in a red-orange ink, states that this is the beginning of a book by St. Augustine of Hippo, entitled "De quattuor virtutibus karitatis" or "On the Four Virtues of Charity." This text and the other texts contained in the manuscript are not, however, by St. Augustine but by a follower of his, the fifth-century theologian Quodvultdeus of Carthage (d. ca. 450). The sermons collected in this book circulated in the Middle Ages under the name of St. Augustine, but they have since been attributed to Quodvultdeus by modern scholars.
