My Dear Lemon.
I am tired out, with last night and many less agreeable matters, but I can't go to bed without sending you the enclosed, and entreating you not to think of James. The parts are distributed--I went to Lews's myself today--and I am fully convinced that your not playing Leech OR the Blacksmith would sacrifice the piece. Pray remember that Leech was your own idea originally, and don'[t make a Jackass of yourself by coming out with such preposterous suggestions. I think of playing James myself, and giving Sir Charles to Stone--or I soon shall, if you go on with such monstrous imaginings.
Rehearsals on Thursday and Friday Evenings, at 7.
Ever Yours amiably
(though indignantly)
