    Monday Twenty Third May
                 1853
 Dear Leech,

On looking at my book, I am inclined to propose next week for our jaunt, if convenient to you. Name any day but Tuesday. Might it not be better to go down to Gravesend by Steamboat, if the fine weather should continue?
I shall dine at the Household Words office on Thursday at ½ p 5, and afterwards go to see the Savages at Hyde Park Corner. Will you come and dine then and there—and not forget it? In that case we might solemnly arrange the proceedings of the Lady—Day.
                                            Ever Faithfully Yours
                                                                   CD.
We spun a table in the most extraordinary manner last night. Mamey, Katey, their governess, I, Catherine, Georgina,”Mon cher Regnier”, et Madame Regnier. The Pembroke table in my study gamboled like an insane elephant (with a prodigious creaking) all around the room!!!
