My Dear Mrs. Colden
The undersigned Prodigal and Wretch is in a state bordering on Distraction.
The tickets have not yet arrived.  I wrote to Paxton for them on Saturday--sent down to Sydenham yesterday, not receiving them--messenger saw him, and brought back word that they were Posted.
Still they do not appear.  Prodigal's despair and madness ensues.  In his aberration, he sends his own ticket for one--in case that should be of any kind of use.  It is not to be given up, but brought back.
Enclosed you will find a handful of hair, torn out wildly by the roots.
Ever Frantically
Charles Dickens
