Hen and Chickens, Birmingham
Monday Night, Eighteenth October 1858.
Dearest Georgy
Only a line to say we arrived here prosperously, and that I found the letters waiting me, and that I will write to dear Mamie next.
We had not a great house tonight -between seventy and eighty pounds- but I never saw people more honestly and completely delighted, and it was (and is) as wet a night as wet can be.
Best love to Mamie and Katie, and dear old Plorn. -Arthur joins. also engages himself for Katie's birthday.
Ever Affectionately
