My Dear Webster.
An excellent idea of yours! – If you will submit it to Mr. and Mrs. Barney Williams as it stands, and tell them the truth – that it is the production of an excellent old dramatic Writer for whom I do what I can, in the dregs and decline of his life, and who wants to sell it for whatever can be got for it – you may add from me, that I will (sub rosâ) re-arrange it for them as they may think best, if they will purchase it; and will make it as ship-shape for them (knowing their acting very well), as I possibly can.
But what I must stipulate for, is a quick reply. Young Toole is good at personation, and I think Mr. Dillon might purchase the Farce, if I paid him the small compliment of addressing him myself on the subject. That, of course, should be before he opens.
Ever Faithfully
