Dear Sir
I cannot possibly return a satisfactory answer to your letter, at present, nor can I by any means empower you to make any announcement of me in your regular course: - for the simple reason that I am exceedingly uncertain on the subject of my Autumnal movements, and have pledged myselft to remain so for a certain definite time. All I can now say, is, that I have made a memorandum of your request, and that I have every desire and disposition to comply with it.
Faithfully Yours
Charles Dickens
