Office of All the Year Round
Wednesday Twenty Eighth May 1862
My Dear Webster,
I am obliged to be a Gad’s Hill on Monday, and to remain there until I read on Friday. I have not been there these four months, and have made a variety of appointments of business, which must be kept.—Unfortunately for my powers of responding to your kid offer. I consider it only deferred.
Don’t forget your booked engagement to me. I will let you know a week beforehand, what train I recommend to Stanny and Davy Roberts.
Ever Faithfully
