My Dear Madame Viardot
I sent you the carte de visite. I am afraid it is not a very good one, but I am not a good subject for photography, and I think it the best there is.
Let me congratulate you and Monsieur Viardot (to whom I send my kind regard), on the approaching marriage of your daughter. Chorley told me of it the other day, and we were all much interested in the intelligence.
Mind!--When you come to England, I rely upon your coming to see us here.
Ever My Dear Madame Viardot
Your faithful Admirer
Charles Dickens
