             My Dear Mr. Heraud
  I have 4 papers of yours in hand, which I have several times placed, but have had driven out by press of matter, and irreconcilability of lengths. Let me begin the New Year; wishing that it may be a happy and prosperous on for you, and by sending you the enclosed cheque.
