   Thursday Twelfth May 1870
My Dearest Georgy
I think I am on the whole better to-day, Last night I got a good night’s rest under the influence of Laudanum but it hangs about me very heavily today. I have had the poultices constantly changed, hot and hot, day and night since I left.
Will you send the enclosed cheque to Letitia—no on second thought, I will post it to her straight.
Those little risings that we noticed on the foot were blisters caused by very hot applications. They have much enlarged since.
I shall appear at H.P.P. after office work tomorrow, all is the understood here as to your change of day.
Ever my Dearest Georgy, your affectionate
                                           C.D.
