[ON REVERSE] College of Physicians of Philadelphia 15-19 South 22nd Street Founded 1787 The Ashhurst Room was furnished by Dr. Richard H. Harte, in memory of Dr. John Ashhurst, Jr., whose portrait hangs above the fireplace. This is the main rading room of the library, where also the catalogues and works of reference are consulted. Above the catalogue drawers are photostatic reproductions of the College's notable collection of incunabula and portraits by such celebrated American painters as John Naegle and Charles Willson Peale. The Abbe cabinet, containing memorabilia of Benjamin Rush, Pasteur, Jenner, Lister, the Curies and others, is at the other end of the room.
