Written in brownish black ink, in a careful bookhand with decorative initials; on paper with horizontal chainlines. Gathered in 8s and signed A-T.
Bound in dark brown calf over thick bevelled wooden boards; covers blind-tooled with fillets to a panel design; two fore-edge clasps with brass catches.
Manuscript hymnbooks of this type preceded the first printed one, published under title: Neu-Eingerichtetes Gesang-Buch. Germantown, Pa. : Christoph Saur, 1762. (The present manuscript contains a different text.)
Schwenkfelder hymnbook. The text concludes with an alphabetical index of first lines.
Provenance: Owner Susanna Kraussen inherited from George Hoffmann grandfather, who was a Schwenkfelder (1765)
