About the Manuscript
Benjamin Kutz was per a manuscript entry “Supervisor of the Township of Maxatawny” in 1844, and this booklet was a record for all the men’s “credit for time spend [sic] on Roads of said Township 1844.”
The booklet has torn pages; blank pages torn from booklet; children’s grapite drawings over entries; and entries in pencil that “William S. Kutz was born December 29 A D 1832 will be old December/ nex the 29 40 years” and “Wilson B Kutz was born May 15 A D 1871 will be old may nex 15 1875 4 years” There are two entries in a child’s hand in pencil about “Fruit” and “Snow” which may have been a school exercise. By the latter part of the 19th century, the booklet appears to have had little value in the eyes of its owners.
