The Starr Centre Library was established at 7th & Lombard Streets in the late 1880s. When it closed in 1943, its operation was taken over by the Free Library, and the branch moved into this converted store building at 7911 Eastwick Avenue. This ca. 1943 view shows the back of the interior space.
The branch closed in 1955. It served the Southwest Philadelphia community.
