Additional Title: Psalter
Script: Gothic bookhand
Language: Latin
Folio Number: f. 25v

Notes: Initial D, beginning Psalm 26
Notes: This initial begins Psalm 26, "Dominus illuminatio mea, et salus mea..." (The Lord is my light and my salvation). A saint sits beside an altar with a chalice surmounted by the Host, the symbols of Christ's body and blood. The saint points to his eye to demonstrate that the sight of the chalice and the host are his "illumination" and his "salvation." The abstracted vegetal motifs in the border decoration are characteristic of a group of manuscripts produced in the Ghent-Bruges region of Flanders, or modern-day Belgium. This group has been identified by scholars as the "Tweede" group based on shared stylistic affinities.
Notes: This manuscript has been dated to ca. 1270.
