Date taken from postmarks on front and back of envelope. Front postmark from Earl's Court, S.W. i.e., the envelope was posted near Miss Potter's family home in London, Number Two, Bolton Gardens, Little letters written and signed as if by various of Miss Potter's animal characters, each shaped and folded to represent an envelope, with a tiny stamp drawn in red. Salutation: Dear Miss Marjorie. Signed: Squirrel Nutkin. "I hope you will like the next book, there will be lots of rabbits! but poor Mopsy's story is too melancholy to write, she was killed by a weasel, & buried in a little moss grave under the wall. But there are plenty of rabbits still. yrs aff."
