Geburts=und Tauf=Schein. \ Diesen beyden Ehegatten als: \ Samuel Fankhauser und sei= \ ner ehelichen Haus= Frau Elisabeth \ eine gebohrne Keblingerin ist ein \ Sohn zur Welt gebohren den \ 4 ten Tag Julius im Jahr u. \ Herrn, 1841, dieser Sohn ist geboh= \ ren in Brecknock Taunschip, Lanca= \ ster Caunty, im Staat Pennsylvani, \ in Nord=America, und erhielt \ durch die Heil Taufe den Namen \ Schembers Fankhauser, \ den [blank] Tag [blank] im Jahr \ [blank] von dem Ehrw. Birth- and Baptismal Certificate
To these two married people, namely Samuel Fankhauser and his lawful wife Elisabeth born Keblingerin a son was born into the world, on the 4th day of July in the year of the Lord 1841. This son was born in Brecknock township, Lancaster county, in the state of Pennsylvania in North America; and he received through the Holy Baptism the name Schembers Fankhauser, on the [blank] day [blank] in the year [blank], from the honorable Mr. Miller. The sponsors were his father and mother. M[ade] by David Bixler 1842.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The main text in Fraktur is enclosed in a frame. Two putti on a cloud are in the top center. Two angels with lyres, one holding a wreath and one holding a bird flank the text. Two birds holding a flowering vine in their beaks are in the bottom corners. The image is framed by a decorated band.
